Practical workflows

Use Ensembyte to coordinate coding agents in parallel.

Ensembyte is an AI coding desktop app for developers who want coding agents to work in parallel. Delegate independent tasks to Hydra heads, review their changes, and bring the results together. Downloads are listed for macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Split a project task across agents

Use Hydra when a coding task has pieces that can be worked on independently, such as auditing separate modules, implementing distinct features, or reviewing different parts of a change. A lead agent writes briefs and dispatches helper agents, called heads, to work in parallel. Each head works in an isolated project copy, so its edits stay separate while the other heads work. Give the lead a clear goal and boundaries, then let it coordinate the work and collect the heads’ reports.

Review and integrate isolated changes

Parallel work still needs review. Inspect the changes from each turn in Ensembyte’s diff viewer, compare them with the task brief, and ask the agent to adjust anything that does not fit. When the heads report back, the lead reviews their work and brings the changes together in your checkout. Git worktrees keep each thread’s project edits isolated while work is in progress.

Use multiple coding agent providers

Ensembyte brings supported coding agent command-line tools into one desktop workspace. Choose an available model for a chat, and switch models or providers during an ongoing chat when you want to continue with a different agent. For Hydra, you can pair a lead model with a different model or provider for its heads; if you do not choose a separate one, heads use the chat’s model. Provider availability depends on the tools and accounts configured on your computer.

Common questions

What does Ensembyte help a developer do?

Ensembyte is a desktop workspace for coding agents. It helps a developer coordinate parallel work with Hydra, review agent changes, and manage coding agent sessions in one app.

How does Hydra split a coding task across agents?

A lead agent writes briefs and delegates independent parts of a task to helper agents called heads. Heads work in parallel in isolated project copies, then report back so the lead can review and bring the work together.

Can I use different providers for the lead and Hydra heads?

Yes. You can pair a lead model with a different model or provider for the heads. If you do not choose a separate one, heads use the chat’s model.
